A new collaboration boot with MYGhandmade. Bench made boot made of horween leather chrome excel horsehide. Everything on this boot has been made using old world craftsmanship taking about 50 hours of labor per pair. The name Black Maria is inspired the the name given to the black wagon used to take injured or dead coal miners back to their coal patch mines. The dead miner was brought into the Black Maria coming down the street would be fear and dread from everyone in the coal patch.
The leather welt heel and midsole was burnt with a torch to resemble coal and will darken with age. We also burnt coffins into red leather insoles which represent the red satin lining of a coffin. The coffin design pays tribute to the Molly Maguires were a secret society of Irish Coal Miners that became a type of a coal union that would protect the miners by any means necessary. They were infiltrated by the Pinkerton Detective Agency and 6 were hung on 6/21/1877 in Jim Thorpe, PA which we pay tribute to on this boot. Our coal miner label also burnt into the tongue of the boot.
Each boot custom made one at a time so that it fits perfectly to your foot.
Custom boots take 2 months to be complete.
