How We Measure

All of our garments are measure by hand. The measurements listed on the site are based on average of multiple measured garments. These measurements are approximate and slight variants may occur due to manufacturing.

Measuring the Waist

With the pants buttoned and lying flat, and the waistband pulled taut, measure from the inside edge  of the left side to the inside edge of the right side, and then double that number.

Measuring the Inseam

Make sure the pant leg is completely straight and flat. Run the tape from the inner crotch to leg opening. Make sure the tape is completely flat and taunt along with pant leg. ** For hemming make sure you add an inch or so for sanforized denim as you will get about an inch to 1.5" shrink after your first soak/rinse**

Measuring the Back Rise

Measuring the Thigh

With the pants lying flat, measure from the inside of the leg to the outside of the leg, below the crotch seam. Make sure the the tape measure is taunt.

Measuring the Leg Opening

With the pants lying flat, measure straight across the bottom of the leg.

Measuring the Chest

Measuring the Sleeve

With the shirt buttoned and lying flat, measure along the outside of the sleeve, from the shoulder seam to the tip of the cuff.

Here at Left Field we have never seen a more unique and beautiful denim in my 25 years. The slub yarns vary in thickness, with some individual yarns going thick to thin thru out the individual yarn similar to a hand spun Khadi yarn.  The effect of the slub denims in the warp create a look that they refer to as"falling rain"  The denim is a Hank Dyed natural  plant dyed Indigo. In order to Hank Dye denim, a master craftsman dips the yarn skein into a vat of Natural Indigo and hand twist the Indigo deep into the yarn core. The nature of this process produces yarns with varying depths of Indigo Hues giving it a subtle variegated indigo warp. This denim is dyed in the most famous Indigo dying center in Japan, Tokushima Prefecture.

Indigo dyeing in Tokushima Prefecture developed in the climate of the Yoshino River basin.

The Yoshino River is one of the three most rampaging rivers in Japan, and is called " Saburo Shikoku " along with Taro Bando and Jiro Chikushi . Every flood brought fertile soil that was suitable for the cultivation of indigo , making it a major production area.

Thanks to the encouragement of Yoshishige Hachisuka , the first lord of the Tokushima Domain in Awa Province , the production of indigo was at its peak during the Edo period. Because of its high quality, Awa indigo is called “ Sho-ai ” and other indigo is called “ Ji-ai ”, and has been prized all over the country. In Tokushima, there are a few remaining facilities that tell the story of the achievements of the indigo merchants of that time.

This run on Tokushima denim was done custom for us with a green selvedge and Is sanforized unlike the previous run. The specs are the normal Greaser fit. This will be instore next week in NY and Los Angeles and shipping orders shortly after. Limited run on this custom Left Field Tokushima Ai denim!
